MEETING #1: Tuesday, April 26, 2016

SPEAKER BIO: Megan Maddocks works on the Talent Management team as a Development Advisor and Corporate Recruiter at Encana Oil & Gas. Megan works on a variety of learning and development projects in the areas of performance management, competency, and leadership program design. She is also responsible for filling open jobs for US-based positions. Megan graduated with a Bachelors in Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.

PROGRAM: Megan will be discussing her experience in creating sustainable mentoring programs, leadership buy-in, one-on-one vs small group circles, and providing value to the participants as well as the company. Megan serves as the Chair of the Encana Women’s Network mentoring committee where she oversees two mentoring programs: a formal one-on-one matching program and Encircle, a small group mentoring circle program. Megan credits great mentoring relationships as playing a key role in her own success and is passionate about creating culture-shaping programs in the areas of mentoring and coaching.

PARKING: Use one of the parking lots near the building. There is a garage directly across the street from Encana. There is also a garage at 15th and Tremont, as well as a surface lot at 18th and Lincoln. Please research before you go, as these lots vary widely in price.

UPON ARRIVAL: Take the elevator located on the concourse level up to the 40th floor. Once you arrive the receptionist there will buzz you in and direct you where to go.


MEETING #2: Thursday, July 14, 2016

LOCATION: TIAA-CREF Financial Services, 1670 Broadway, Denver, CO 80202

SPEAKER BIO: Marisa Carson, Ph.D., Director of Talent Management, Human Resources, TIAA-CREF. Marisa joined TIAA-CREF’s Talent Management team in August 2013. As a member of the Performance and Talent Assessment Center of Excellence, Marisa leads the talent review, succession planning, and organizational development process for TIAA-CREF. In this role, she focuses on building a strong, diverse pipeline of internal talent to lead the organization today and in the future. Prior to joining TIAA-CREF, Marisa worked as a Consultant with Kenexa, an IBM Company, partnering with organizations in the design, validation, and implementation of employee selection systems. Marisa has significant professional experience and academic training in the areas of employee selection and assessment, cultural assessment, career development, leadership development, and succession planning. Having worked with organizations across the finance, utilities, healthcare, and nonprofit industries, she is skilled in implementing evidence-based talent management solutions that drive organizational performance. Marisa is a co-author of Business-Focused HR: 11 Processes to Drive Results and has published several articles on leadership and employee development. She holds an M.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a Ph.D. in Organizational Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

PROGRAM: Executive Succession Planning at TIAA-CREF. Succession planning is a priority for TIAA-CREF and is a part of our annual business cadence. Effective succession planning minimizes exposure to avoidable and often costly breaks in leadership continuity, and provides a framework to drive senior executive development, aligning leadership capabilities with the strategic needs of the firm. This interactive session will provide attendees with an overview of the work TIAA-CREF Human Resources is doing in this critical area and a summary of strategies currently in place to build executive bench strength.

CONSULTANTS: We are committed to maintaining a 50/50 practitioner/consultant ratio. All consultants will be placed on a waiting list and confirmed in order, UNLESS you BYOP (Bring Your Own Practitioner). This is per meeting. If you want to be guaranteed attendance, reach out to your practitioner friends in Talent Management, invite them to attend the meeting, and give your name when they register. We have not had a problem with our ratios at any previous meeting, but we will send a final confirmation three days prior.
